Vitamin A deficiency - How to avoid it ?
Vitamin A is very important for the skin elasticity, bones, teeth and normal sexual functions. The same as vitamin C and vitamin E, vitamin A acts as an antioxidant (destroys harmful free radicals). Vitamin A has a preventive role against cancer and atherosclerosis. It promotes the rodopsin formation, which is very important substance for the good vision, especially for the so called “night vision”.
Vitamin A strengthens the immune system and protects all the tissues form different infections. Ninety present of it deposits in the liver. It is a fat-soluble vitamin important for our body.
Vitamin A has two forms: retinol and retinoid (beta-carotene). Beta-carotene promotes the formation of vitamin A in our body (precursor of vitamin A) and contains in yellow vegetables such as pumpkin and carrots. The active type of vitamin A is found in fish oil, in eggs, liver and milk. Also you can find it in every drug store as a preparation.
Vitamin A is found in every multivitamin preparations (MultiTabs, Supradin / Supradyn , Supravit, etc.), and also like a single preparation in a tablet form. For body-builders especially is produced a unique preparations containing vitamins and minerals.
On the contrary, the beta-carotene is not toxic in any doses, because the body uses it to produce vitamin A only when it needs it. So you can accentuate to beta-carotene consumption.
